Thematic Displays
Examples of the show’s themes of healing from trauma can be seen in this piece. From the start, we see the main character Edward Sitting alone in a field surrounded by greenery. The longer it goes on, we see him instead of being in that vibrant environment, he is now in the dark, the text askew, showcasing a descent from the ordinary, where he lost what he cared about. There is storytelling through the typography.
“Heart Made Fullmetal”
Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the greatest anime of all time. It represents powerful themes of resilience, overcoming, and healing. That being said, we wanted to make a short kinetic type video that displays how the path to healing isn’t a straightforward path, majority of the time. Instead it requires reflection and turns. We decided the best way to show this would be through typography.
“There’s No Such Thing As A Painless Lesson”
Edwards' journey towards accepting his past mistakes and becoming a new person is all visualized in this short. His path is neither straight, it's jagged, overlapping, and lonely, but he realizes this lesson and becomes who he was meant to be. A man with a heart made fullmetal.
