RETRO PAGES was a mockup convention based on comics. Comics have a large history and are extremely important to American culture. Comics originally were created to rally the people against a common enemy (at the time it was the Nazi’s during ww2) and to provide a source of hope for the American people. These older comics often get lost in time as more comics are created, and the previous generation of comics disappear… collecting dust in some cellar or lost in time. To revitalize this scen,e we created RETRO PAGES. A convention with the goal of uniting comic book lovers both old and new. These people would be able to buy, sell, and trade older comics. There would be raffles to give away older comics in order to continue the cycle of enjoyment.

BROCHURE

To advertise this event, we created a brochure containing the necessary information. It’s older, decayed look is supposed to remind the audience of how older comics would look in the modern era. There is a slight color error throughout all the images, as well as visible pixels, which was a common problem when printing comics in earlier eras. The most important part of this piece is the pop-up itinerary, which is located in the middle of the back pages. This event would feature legendary special guests who played a pivotal role in creating some of the comic book industry's most important characters, such as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This brochure features a timeline of comic books, ranging from the Golden Age to the Bronze Age, which are the time periods this convention focuses on. This helps the audience get a feel for what to expect in terms of which comics will be present at the event.
